Raymond Landegent and Jochem Grund, the owners of the Rotterdam shoe specialist store Mascolori, received the Ketelbinkie Award 2014 this morning from Ahmed Aboutaleb, mayor of Rotterdam, during the ‘Entrepreneurial Breakfast Rotterdam’ in Bar Brasserie Engels in the Groot Handelsgebouw.

Daring shoes

Their business went so well that they recently moved from the Bergseweg to the hip Nieuwe Binnenweg. In addition to colourful shoes, they also sell all kinds of accessories such as colourful socks, ties and belts. Mascolori was chosen because it makes daring shoes that connect well with creative Rotterdammers.

It is the brand for the artistic, the freebooter. A new groundbreaking lifestyle for men. At the opening of the Rotterdam Market Hall, they produced the “Horn of plenty” shoes in collaboration with designers Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. These are now known as the Rotterdam Markthal shoes. With their marketing they connect well with existing events such as the Dutch Design Week and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Well-known Dutchmen such as Jules Deelder and Eric Vloeimans have their own shoe line at Mascolori. In this way, this original company contributes to a positive international image of Rotterdam as a hip design city.
