In 1996, I have made a bronze portrait of the Dutch writer and politician Dr. J.C. Terlouw, at the occasion of his departure as the Queen’s Commissioner of Gelderland.

In an interview Jan Terlouw later said that he was not just struck by the resemblance: “A good resemblance is nice, but a sculpture must have a certain something of its own. Something I can not pinpoint.”

A year later, I was invited to participate to an exhibition of some of Jan Terlouw’s favorite artists in Kunsthuis 13 in Velp: “A choice of Jan Terlouw”.
